Conjunctival sac irrigator is attached to a 20cc disposable syringe filled with antiseptic solution • The irrigator is carefully introduced into the conjunctival fornix while the patient is closing their eye • As the plunger of the syringe is pushed, the conjunctiva is perfectly washed out by the antiseptic solution which is irrigated through multiple holes on the cannula • The conjunctival fornix is a difficult place to wash out completely as it is located at the end of the conjunctiva. By placing the irrigator into the upper and lower conjunctival fornix, the conjunctival sac can be perfectly sterilized and the incidence of endophthalmitis can be diminished • Flushing the conjunctiva is the primary way to reduce endo-opthalmitis
