Akahoshi Multi-Use Manipulator Cannula (AE-7736)

Attached to a DiscoVisc syringe, a new surgical instrument which also enhances the speed and safety of cataract surgery. It can be used through the side port as a nucleus sustainer to prechop the nucleus in the counter prechop technique or through the bent cannula, OVD can be injected into the space between the posterior capsule and the nucleus to perform a new surgical procedure called “visco-dissection.” The nuclear fragments are safely separated from the posterior capsule and after phacoemulsification they can be attained quite safely and efficiently.

Akahoshi Paddle Prechopper (AE-4283)

For Nuclei of grades 1-2. Nuclei of any hardness can be easily divided using the special forceps designed for the phaco Prechop technique. Using the technique the nucleus is prechopped into 4 or more sections before introducing the phaco hand piece, harder nuclei or nuclei with weak cillary zonules, should be prechopped very carefully, supported with a nucleus sustainer to reduce the stress on the cillary zonules. With the phaco prechop technique, ultrasound time is reduced to less than 50% of that required with the conventional grooving method. Because the nucleus is divided beforehand, the movement of the phaco tips minimized. Mechanical and thermal damage to the wound is consequently reduced.
