GTCR, a leading private equity firm and Corza Medical announced the acquisition of Katena Products, Inc. The acquisition of Katena expands Corza Medical’s portfolio of surgical products, adding significant scale, product breadth and infrastructure to Corza’s ophthalmic surgery segment. This represents Corza’s first add-on acquisition since its formation in January 2021 with the transformational merger of Surgical Specialties and TachoSil, a carve-out from Takeda Pharmaceutical.
Corza Medical united Surgical Specialties Corporation and TachoSil to create a leading provider of surgical medical devices. Corza Medical’s mission is to aid the surgical community with outstanding products and remarkable service that save time, money and effort. We are a leading provider of medical devices and biosurgery products serving surgeons and their teams, distributors and OEM partners around the world. With our expanding platform of industry-leading brands, including Quill® barbed sutures, Sharpoint® and
Look™ surgical sutures, Sharpoint® ophthalmic knives, the TachoSil® fibrin sealant matrix, as well as Pearsalls and FSSB OEM solutions, we deliver an exceptional customer experience and outstanding value to the entire surgical community.
For customers, the combined companies will provide:
• Strong ophthalmic expertise in clinically relevant disease states.
• Combined ophthalmic product portfolio.
• Increased direct selling in many major markets.
• Highly complementary product portfolio in reusable & disposable ophthalmic products.
• Expanded customer education & clinical resources.
The value of the transaction comes from the complementary nature of the companies. We do not expect any changes for Katena customers regarding their ordering processes, sales contacts, or customer service interactions which will remain the same. Any transitions over the coming months will be well communicated, seamless, and with little to no disruption.
Katena is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Corza Medical and the W9 you currently have on file remains valid.
This is a key objective for bringing Corza and Katena together. We plan to launch this initiative with our combined sales teams over the coming weeks and bring a broader portfolio and greater value to our customers.
